Gecko
Loverofgreen
The Gecko is easy to find, right on Hang Bong Street in Hanoi. Interior is nice, unique deco, and many pictures by a local Picasso for sale on the walls. Go to the second floor, and you find two VERY attractive balconies overlooking the street - great place.
Among the usual VN dishes from spring rolls to pizza, there is one page for vegetarian dishes only, including genuine V-dishes plus a couple of "mock (chicken, beef, shrimp ...)" dishes, also vegetarian. I had the green curry with vegetables and rice, plus the extra chili I ordered, very nice and tasty, and the amount was right, too. A bit on the starchy side, therefore only four stars, but still very good.
The drinks are plentiful! Lots of mocktails and lassies, any taste you want. I had the "Bart Simpson", which was cocoanut, ananas, milk and honey and tasted very good. Beer, two, which is also vegetarian if you count bacteria as neither meat nor plant.
Still tempted to buy one of the black on white quite unique lacquer ware pictures, a very erotic one.
Try the gecko! I would recommend it.
